How to Relieve Breast Pain During Pregnancy

Breast pain during pregnancy is caused by your body's hormonal levels increasing, which is normal in pregnant women. The tissue in your breasts are changing, and the milk ducts are producing cells to help feed your baby when it is born. Your breasts may swell, and they may feel sensitive and sore. This pain usually starts early in the pregnancy and lasts through the first trimester. However, it can sometimes last through the entire pregnancy. There are several things that you can do to help relieve breast pain during pregnancy.

Things You'll Need
Supported bra Heating pad Tylenol

Wear a bra that provides good support for your breasts. If you do not wear a bra your breast tenderness can worsen.

Exercise daily. Get at least 20 minutes of active exercise everyday.

Rest with a heating pad over your breasts. Some women prefer ice pads. Test out both types to see which works best for you.

Take Acetaminophen, such as Tylenol. Most pain relievers are not to be taken during pregnancy however,
many doctors approve the use of Tylenol. Check with your doctor to be sure.

Relax on your back and take deep breaths. Visualize your pain going away.

Stop eating salt. Salt can make breast tenderness worse by leading to water-retention.

Drink plenty of water to flush out excess fluids from your body.
